Bulldogs Push Past Women’s Lacrosse

FRANKLIN, Mass. - Junior Natalie Peterson led all players with seven points on six goals and an assist, as the Dean College women's lacrosse team topped Mitchell College 20-4 in in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division action at Grant Field on Saturday.

Sophomore Emma Mock netted five goals and an assist for the Bulldogs, while junior Haley Gaunt and sophomore Alisha Caldeira each notched a hat trick.

Sophomore Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) paced Mitchell with two goals, while senior Carley Potts (New London, Conn.) added a goal and an assist, and freshman Keirsten Veenstra (Three Rivers, Mich.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career. Cordero was eight draw controls, and finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior Jessica Krupnikoff (Farmington, Conn.) handed out one assist and caused two turnovers.

The Bulldogs opened the game with nine unanswered goals before Potts set up Cordero's first goal of the day with 2:53 remaining in the first quarter.

After five more unanswered goals, Krupnikoff dished a pass to Cordero for her team leading 13th goal of the season with 5:07 left until halftime. Potts found the back of the net for the second time this season on a free position shot in the final moments of the third quarter, before Veenstra slipped a shot past the Dean goalkeeper with five minutes gone by in the fourth.

Dean sophomore Allie Stockwell earned the win with four saves. Mitchell goalie Hannah Gomes (North Stonington, Conn.) finished with nine saves.

The Mariners (0-9, 0-8 GNAC) will return home after a three game road trip when they host Emmanuel College in a conference tilt on Tuesday, April 16th, at 4:00 pm. The Bulldogs Dean (3-9, 2-6 GNAC) will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday, April 16th, against Rivier.
