Women’s Lacrosse Defeated by Emmanuel

NEW LONDON, Conn. – 12 different played scored for the Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon, as the Saints remained unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a 20-0 victory over Mitchell College.

Sophomore Madeline Wright poured in a game-high four goals and added a pair of assists for the Saints. Freshman Hannah Hoenshell recorded a hat trick, while Abby Brown, Avery Robillard, and Livia Fedele potted two goals apiece. 10 players tallied at least one assist in the win, with Ella Marschitz,
Dejaliyah Srimouksavanh, and Madeline Wright dishing out two apiece. Srimouksavanh paced the Saints with a game-high five draw controls, while Alyssa Hogan and Livia Fedele were both credited with three ground balls.

The Saints opened the scoring with a goal by Marschitz just over 30 seconds into the game, and built an eight goal advantage by the end of the first quarter, which grew to an 11-0 edge by halftime. Emmanuel tacked on five more goals in the third, before wraping the scoring by finding the back of the net four more times in the final stanza.

Sophomore Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) registered a team-high three shows, but saw her three game scoring streak come to an end. Senior Carly Potts (New London, Conn.) had the only other shot on goal for the Mariners, who were outshot 25-4. Seniors Hannah Gomes (North Stonington, Conn.) and Isabel Foley (Framingham, Mass.) scooped two ground balls each, while senior Jessica Krupnikoff caused a pair of turnovers for Mitchell. Cordero led the Mariners with three draw controls.

The Mariners (0-10, 0-9 GNAC) will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, April 20th, when they host Rivier University on senior day. The Saints (11-4, 9-0 GNAC) will look to remain undefeated in conference play when they host Colby-Sayer College on Saturday, April 20th.
