Women’s Lacrosse Silenced by Regis

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's lacrosse team was shutout for the first time this season on Wednesday afternoon, falling 18-0 to Regis College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division showdown at Alumni Field.

The Pride opened the game with eight goals in the opening quarter and built an 11-0 advantage by halftime. Molly Higgins, Serenity Ayala, and Maddie Sainato each had hat tricks for Regis in the win, while Higgins controlled possession with a game-high six draw controls.

Sophomore Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) got off a team high three shots for Mitchell, also adding three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls. The Mariners were outshot 43-4, lost the ground ball battle (26-13), and turned the ball over 32 times.

Junior Arrianna Stark (Scotia-Glenville, N.Y.) made 11 saves across 60 minutes in goal for the Mariners.

Allayna Martone turned away two shots in the win.

The Mariners (1-8, 1-6 GNAC) are back in action on the road on Saturday, April 12, with a conference game at New England College. The Pride (5-7, 3-4 GNAC) play next when they host Lasell University on Sunday, April 13.
