Bio

Erika Blozie enters her third season as head women's lacrosse coach at Mitchell College in 2018-19.

Blozie, who took over a Mitchell program that was only in its fourth year of existence, led the Mariners to three wins in her debut season. In 2018 the program earned four wins and qualified for the NECC Championship for the just the second time ever. During her Mitchell tenure she has also coached an attacker who was named NECC Player of the Year and led the country in goals per game.

Blozie has over a decade of collegiate head and assistant coaching experience in lacrosse and field hockey. She began her coaching career at Eastern Connecticut State University where she spent three years as an assistant in the women's lacrosse program. She later served as a women's lacrosse assistant and a head field hockey coach at Stevenson University, and in 2011 was named the first head lacrosse coach when Hiram College began its intercollegiate program.

A native of South Windsor, CT, Blozie was a four-year starter in goal for the Eastern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team. She started each of the team’s 71 matches in her career from 2001-04. In addition to lifting Eastern to a 46-25 overall record (19-5 in conference play) and three straight ECAC New England Division III tournaments – including the 2002 championship – she amassed numerous individual honors which included a spot in the prestigious IWLCA Farewell Lacrosse Festival North-South Senior All-Star Game in 2002. She was also selected to the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-New England Region (the program’s first-such selection) and ECAC All-New England and All-Little East Conference teams twice each.

Fourteen years after the conclusion of her career, Blozie still holds ECSU program goalie records for career appearances and starts, wins (46), minutes (4,215), saves (708) and GAA (8.47) and is third in save percentage (.543) as one of only two four-year starting goalies in program history. In 2016 she was inducted into the school's E-Club Hall of Fame.

Blozie holds a degree in physical education from Eastern and Master's in allied health from the University of Connecticut.
