MADIGAN FINDS BACK OF THE NET WITH 5 SECONDS LEFT FOR MITCHELL WIN

NEW LONDON, CONN.-Women's soccer squeezed out a victory against the Yellow Jackets of Lyndon State College with a 2-1 in the last 5 seconds of the game.  The win moves Mitchell to 2-6-1 and Lyndon State to 3-5 so far this season.  The women started off the first half of a men's and women's double header at Mitchell Saturday afternoon. 

Senior captain Jessica Calcaterra (Garden Grove, Ca.) was the first to find the net when she scored off a bounce back from LSC's keeper 20 minutes into the game.  Mitchell took the 1-0 lead into the half and kept it through the first 15 mins of the second stanza.  Sophomore Katherin Kline (Coventry, R.I.) tied the game at 60:31 with her unassisted goal. 

Freshman Chloe Madigan (Sharon, Vt.) saved the day with her shot from the far right of the box past the Yellow Jacket keeper with five seconds on the clock.  The goal was her first collegiate goal. 

Lyndon State out shot the Pequots 17-12.  Mitchell keeper, junior Colleen Seymour wrapped up eight saves on the day.  Yellow Jacket keeper, junior Kari Johnson (Brandon, Vt.) tallied five.

Mitchell will hit the road and head to Nashua, N.H. to face future New England Collegiate College member Daniel Webster College Sunday morning in hopes of continuing their momentum.  Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM.  Lyndon State will play the first half of a double-header with their men on Sunday at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt.  Game time is 12:00 noon.
