Mitchell and Becker Finish Stalemated at Two
Leicester, Mass.- In women's soccer action, Becker College and Mitchell College played to a 2-2 double overtime tie.
The game was back in forth throughout the entire contest. In the first half Becker got on the board first when Catherine Millette (Columbia, CT) took a shot from 10 yards out and placed over the head of Mitchell goalkeeper Morgan Lindsay (Sarasota, FL). Mitchell battled right back when Leslie Briggs (Dighton, MA) passed to Paige Ehnot (West Hartford, CT), Ehnot then place the ball perfectly into the left corner of the net, tying the game at one.
In the 2nd half Leslies Brigs ripped a corner kick just out of the reach of Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA), give Mitchell a short lived lead. Two minutes later Alena Phongsa (Putnam, CT) drove a direct kick over the head of new Mitchell goalkeeper Brittany O'Neil (Old Saybrook, CT), tying the game at two.
In overtime Shannon Tibbetts and Brittany O'Neil took over the game in their respective nets. The two goalies combined to face 11 shots in the extra frames. Becker improved is now 3-9-1 on the year. The Hawks will face NECC opponent Newbury on Saturday. Mitchell improved to 5-7-1 on the year. The Mariners will host NECC opponent Daniel Webster next Saturday.
