NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team earned a 7-0 conference victory over Wheelock College on "Senior Day" on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Mariners (6-7-1 overall, 4-1-1 NECC) sent their three seniors off in style, scoring a season-high seven goals while holding a commanding 38-2 advantage in shots. Senior Paige Ehnot scored a pair of goals and classmate Marjorie Oliveira recorded a goal in the final regular season home games of their careers. Freshman Caley McClendon and junior Nikki Hoxie each also found the back of the net twice for the Mariners.

Ehnot got things started for Mitchell with her first tally of the season in the 19th minute off a feed from freshman Ashlee Pekar. McClendon took care of the rest of the scoring in the half, netting goals within a 21-second span in the 38th minute to put the Mariners up 3-0 at the break.

Hoxie netted her first goal in the 56th minute on an unassisted effort and added another in the 67th minute on a penalty kick after being tripped up inside the box. Ehnot's second goal came in the 61st minute after sophomore Amanda Hernandez played a ball to her up the left sideline. Oliveira tacked on the final goal with 48 seconds to play on a ball served to the far post by junior Leslie Briggs.

Senior goalkeeper Morgan Lindsay made her first start of the season and did not face a shot on goal. Freshman Kaylee Woodford played the final 42 minutes of the contest and also did not face a shot. Alexandra Chiesa played the entire 90 minutes for the Wildcats (0-13-0 overall, 0-5-0 NECC) and finished with 14 saves.

Mitchell will next play at Bay Path College on Wednesday, October 27 at 4 p.m.
