Women's Soccer Records Draw at DWC

NASHUA, N.H. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team battled Daniel Webster College to a scoreless tie in double overtime on Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Goalkeeper Amy Waller stopped a remarkable 25 shots, including nine in overtime, for Daniel Webster while sophomore Kaylee Woodford made five saves for the Mariners (4-2-2, 2-0-2 NECC). The Eagles (0-7-1, 0-3-1 NECC) registered their first point of the season.

Mitchell controlled the tempo throughout, but strong DWC team defense kept most Mitchell shots outside the box. The Mariners finished with a 34-6 total shots advantage and had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Mitchell created two terrific opportunities and nearly walked away with the win late in the second overtime as freshman Madeline Crow took a pass in front but was stoned by Waller from eight feet out. Classmate Maariyah Lombardo added a second bid off a Nikki Hoxie feed, but her shot from six yards out was tipped by Waller off the left crossbar.

Nikki Gassert had three shots for DWC while TC DiSantis added two.

Mitchell will next visit Saint Joseph College on Wednesday, October 12 at 4 p.m.
