WSoccer's Woodford Receives NECC Weekly Honors


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Kaylee Woodford was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the sport of women's soccer, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Woodford, a goalkeeper, played a key role in keeping the Mariners unbeaten in NECC play last week. She made a combined 18 saves and didn't allow a goal in 220 minutes of action in conference road matches at Elms College and Daniel Webster College. Woodford made 13 saves against Elms and another five against Daniel Webster as the Mariners came away with a pair of scoreless ties.

Woodford has started and played in all eight games this season. She ranks first in the NECC in save percentage (.879) and second in goals-against average (0.92). She has also posted four shutouts this year and has 10 for her career.

Mitchell (4-2-2 overall, 2-0-2 NECC) will take a break from conference play when it plays at Saint Joseph College on Wednesday, October 12 at 4 p.m.
