WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's soccer team lost 2-1 in double overtime at Saint Joseph College on Wednesday afternoon.

Saint Joseph's Patricia Nolan scored her 11th goal of the season just 2:58 into the second extra period to break the 1-1 tie. The Blue Jays improved to 10-4 overall while Mitchell dropped to 4-3-2. It was also the fourth straight double-overtime game for the Mariners, who have gone 1-1-2 during the stretch.

After 81-plus scoreless minutes, Mitchell took a 1-0 lead with 8:49 to play in regulation. Freshman Maariyah Lombardo made a long run down the left side and slid a shot across the goal mouth from eight yards, which deflected off the far post and into the net.

Saint Joseph scored the equalizer just 2:20 later. Melissa Maddaloni played a long ball from midfield to Stacey Rutledge on the right flank. Rutledge then fed Nicole Mendelson in the box, who scored from 10 yards.

In the second overtime, Nolan played a loose ball 20 yards out, dribbled 10 yards in and scored the game winner on an unassisted tally.

Saint Joseph outshot Mitchell 30-8 and had an 8-4 advantage on corner kicks. Mitchell goalkeeper Kaylee Woodford made a season-high 20 saves.

Mitchell will next host Newbury College on Saturday, October 15 at noon.
