Women's Soccer Topped 3-1 at NEC


HENNIKER, N.H.— New England College women's soccer came through with two second half scores to lift them past Mitchell College, 3-1, Wednesday night.

With the win the Pilgrims improved to 5-1-0 overall, while the loss dropped the Mariners to 0-2-0 on the season.
 
NEC got on the board just 10 minutes into the game as Alexandra Hytner took advantage of a Mitchell foul in the box and converted on the Pilgrims' first penalty shot of the season.
 
Mitchell netted the equalizer in the 26th minute as Elisa Johnson scored her first career goal, burying a shot off an assist by Taylor Silva .
 
The Pilgrims went up 2-1 in the 56th minute when Katie Hatch recorded her third goal of the season, finishing off a cross by Alex Hytner that ricocheted off the post. NEC later tacked on an additional score in the 77th minute as Kaylee Thrasher drilled a shot over the Mitchell goalie for her third tally of the season.
 
NEC outshot Mitchell 22-3 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Picking up the win in net for NEC was Tricia Sardagnola, who finished with two saves. Katie McBride made her debut in goal for the Mariners and stopped eight Pilgrim shots.
 
The Mariners will hit the field again on Saturday, September 13 when they travel to Johnson State College. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
