Women's Soccer Blanked at Albertus Magnus


NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's soccer team suffered an 8-0 defeat at Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Celentano Field.

It was an historic evening for AMC's Danielle Polvan as she netted a career-high four goals and became the program's all-time leader with 32 tallies for her career. The Falcons improved to 3-4-1 overall whle the Mariners dropped to 1-5-0.

Polvan had an impressive first half as she netted three goals. Amanda Montano also scored for the hosts in the opening 45 minutes to give AMC a 4-0 edge heading in halftime. On the first-half tallies, Liz Nagy had a pair of assists while Bridget Judd and Nikki Kern each had one helper apiece.

In the second half, Liz Falcigno provided a spark off the bench with two goals and an assist. Her goal in the 58th minute came on a header in the penalty area and was the first of her career. Later in the stanza, Falcigno capped the scoring off a feed from Nagy.

Alexya Alves had the other Albertus Magnus marker in the contest as she converted a cross from Kerrigan Loughman for her second strike of the fall.

AMC goalkeeper Ryan Clark played 62 minutes to earn her first victory of the season and the second of her career. Cassidy Scofield played the final 28 minutes of scoreless relief for the hosts. On the opposite end, Jordan Lohneiss turned aside 13 shots in a losing effort for the guests.

Mitchell will resume conference play at Becker College on Saturday, September 24 at noon.
