Women's Soccer Can't Keep Pace with Becker


LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College defeated Mitchell College 5-1 in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The win lifted the Hawks record to 7-2-0 (2-0-0 NECC) while the Mariners fell to 1-6-0 (1-1-0 NECC). 

Lauren Zaleski put the Hawks on the board 37:39 into the game when she blasted a shot into the back of the Mariners net from 25 yards out. The Hawks increased their lead when Lindsey Keith found Julia Campellone near the left post for her third goal of the season. 

Mitchell cut the Becker lead in half with 50 seconds remaining in the first half when Drew Johndrow threaded a pass to Jacquelyn White to make the score 2-1 at the break. The goal was White's first of the season and second of her career.

Ciara McKissick gave the Hawks a 3-1 advantage 8:46 into the second half when she tickled the twine off of a corner kick from Meghan Bealka. Keith added two late goals on breakaways to make the final score 5-1. 

Becker goalkeeper Jordyn Martel made one stop while Jordan Lohneiss gathered 19 saves for the Mariners. 

Mitchell returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 1 when it hosts NECC rival Regis College at 1:00 p.m.
