Dean Pulls Away in Second Half vs. Women's Soccer

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Dean College scored three goals in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory over Mitchell College on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

Kristina Hill netted a pair of goals while Danya Grimaldi added a score as the Bulldogs improved to 3-9-0 overall. Goalkeeper Macy Parisee made five saves to record the clean sheet.

After a scoreless first half, Hill put Dean on top early in the second stanza by finishing off a corner kick put into play by McKenna Gill. The ball caromed off a defender before Hill rocketed it home from just a few yards out.

Hill's second goal came in the 71st minute off a pretty assist by Emma Morrison, who sent a bending ball just around a defender in the midfield that caught Hill in stride. Hill finished off the play with her second tally of the day to put the Bulldogs up 2-0.

Dean's final score came in the 78th minute when Grimaldi pulled down a goalie punt at midfield and zipped right up the middle of the pitch for a one-on-one chance against Mitchell goalie Jordan Lohneiss. Grimaldi dribbled to the right side of the box before delivering a shot inside the far post for the final goal of the contest.

Mitchell had a chance to ruin the shutout in the final five minutes, as Drew Johndrow played a through ball past the Dean back line that sprung Jacquelyn White for a good look. However, Parisee came out to cut down the angle and stopped White's shot to keep the Mariners off the scoreboard.

Lohneiss recorded 11 saves as Dean held a 25-9 edge in shots.

Mitchell (1-8-0 overall) will next host Bay Path University on Saturday, October 8 at 1 p.m.
