Women's Soccer Falls at Bay Path


LONGMEADOW, Mass. - The Mitchell College women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 setback at Bay Path University on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field.

Jailinne Ruiz came off the bench to spark the Wildcats offense, netting the game's first goal in the 40th minute of play. Bay Path (8-6-0 overall, 4-4 NECC) went on to score four more goals -- including two more prior to the halftime intermission -- to secure the win.

Ruiz also tallied the second goal at 40:32 off a well-placed cross from Alma Rizvani. Elena Helming notched the third goal of the half after pulling out the Mitchell keeper to go one-on-one for the goal at 43:27.

Early in the second half, Joanna Feliciano headed home the fourth goal off an another assist by Rizvani. The Wildcats concluded the scoring in the 76th minute with Brenna Roy finding the back of the net after a defected shot by Rizvani.

Mitchell goalkeeper Jordan Lohneiss faced 37 shots, 13 of which were on goal. She finished with eight saves. Bay Path keeper Caitlyn Esposito recorded the shutout without facing a shot on goal.

The Wildcats are now 8-6 on the year and 4-4 in NECC play; Mitchell is now 1-13 and 1-7 in conference play.

Mitchell (1-13-0 overall, 1-7-0 NECC) will next host Wheelock College on Wednesday, October 26 at 3 p.m.
