Women's Soccer Downed 1-0 at Mount Ida

NEWTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team opened the 2017 season with a 1-0 setback at Mount Ida College on Friday evening at Alumni Field.

Mount Ida's Lacey Perry pounced on a loose ball and slammed it into the back of the net at the 26:50 mark for the game's lone tally. The Mustangs delivered the first victory for new head coach Brigi Palatino, who has taken over the helm this year.

AnnaMarie Seiler got the start in net for the Mustangs and made one save in nearly 74 minutes of action. Kelsey Parkin was not tested in the final 16:12 of the game as the two combined for the clean sheet.

Mount Ida had a 21-5 edge in shots, with 10 of them coming off of the boot of Perry. Mitchell, which got six saves from goalie Jordan Lohneiss, was led by Drew Johndrow's three shot attempts.

The Mariners will next host Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday, September 6 at 4 p.m.
