Women's Soccer Tripped Up at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 1-0 final at SUNY Old Westbury on Thursday afternoon at Panther Park.

Old Westbury (3-7-0 overall) produced the game's lone goal in the 24th and held off the Mariners the rest of the way. Mitchell put four shots on goal in the contest, all of which were turned away by Alexa Higgins. 

Midway through the opening half, Old Westbury's Gabby Lamanno lobbed a shot from the top of the box that slipped under the crossbar for her first tally of the season. It was the only shot that Mitchell goalkeeper Drew Johndrow failed to stop on the day. She finished with nine saves against 19 total shots.

The Mariners recorded eight total shots. Lindsey Fairbank put a pair of shots on goal while Masho McAlister and Michaela DeSena added one apiece.

Mitchell (1-7-0 overall) will next host Dean College on Saturday, September 29 at 2 p.m.
