NEW LONDON, Conn. – Dean College posted a 2-0 victory at Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon in a New England Collegiate College women's soccer clash at Alumni Field.

Miranda Seacord and Alison Nelson each found the back of the net for the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-5-0 overall (1-2-0 NECC) and picked up their first conference win of the season. Jennifer Jacovino made two saves in goal to record her first career shutout and victory.

Dean struck for the first goal in the 12th minute when Allison Buckley set up Seacord for a breakaway attempt up the field. Seacord went one-on-one with Mitchell goalkeeper Drew Johndrow and tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

The Bulldogs took the 1-0 advantage into the halftime intermission but quickly added to the margin in the second stanza. Nelson netted her third goal of the season in the 51st minute, finishing off a rebound off the crossbar to make it a two-goal game.

Dean held a 16-8 edge in total shots on the day. Johndrow recorded five saves for the Mariners.

Mitchell (1-8-0 overall, 0-3-0 NECC) will next play at Pine Manor College on Wednesday, October 3 at 3:30 p.m. Dean returns to action at home against Rhode Island College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
