Women's Soccer Clipped in Second Half at Newbury

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team lost by a 2-1 final against Newbury College on Saturday night at the Edgerly Complex.

The Mariners struck first and led 1-0 at intermission. Lindsey Fairbank scored her first goal of the season in the 35th minute off a feed from Hannah Hicks, and goalkeeper Drew Johndrow made four saves in the half to keep the Nighthawks off the board.

Newbury tied the game in the 58th minute and later pulled ahead in the 83rd. Twalesha Montague tied the game with her third goal of the year while Elizabeth Smith added the game winner for her tally first of the season.

Johndrow finished with six saves while Newbury goalkeeper Noelle Sass recorded seven.

Mitchell (1-11-0 overall, 0-6-0 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Tuesday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m.
