NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team saw their two game win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to the John Jay College Bloodhounds 6-0.
The Bloodhounds got on the board early, as Leylah Murad scored the first goal two minutes into the game. The Mariners held strong defensively, allowing just one more goal in the first half. This came in the 29th minute by Katie Healy off an assist by Brooke Fontaine.
John Jay broke the game open in the second half, with Jillian Golden, Healy, Morgan DeGlopper, and Galicia Monforte all finding the back of the net.
Mitchell goalie Gemma Landy made nine saves, while Rahel Scully managed the only shot on goal for the home team. Taylor Bialowas and Cassandra Roman also got shots off for the Mariners.
Mitchell (2-4-1) will return to action on Wednesday at home against Bryant & Stratton at 3:30 pm.
