Women’s Soccer Silenced by Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to Lasell University on Saturday afternoon in a GNAC match. The loss drops the Mariners conference record to 0-7-1 on the fall.

The Lasers jumped ahead in the first 10 minutes of action when Camdyn LaMarre scored off an assist by Caroline St. Croix. The second goal of the game for the home squad came 10 minutes later, as Bobbi O'Guin assisted on Michelina D'Agostino's fourth goal of the season. After Mitchell held Lasell scoreless for the remainder of the opening half, the Lasers tacked on two more goals in the second half, the first by Alex Delaney and the second off the foot of Bobbi O'Guin, both of which were assisted by Michelina D'Agostino.

The Mariners registered six total shots, with freshman Morgan Fontaine (Cheshire, Conn.) accounting for three and fellow freshman Haley Jeske (Maricopa, Ariz.) firing off two. Two of Fontaine's three shots were on goal, while Francesca Zamarripa (Tampa, Fla.) logged one shot on net. On the day, Mitchell was outshot 45-6, while the Lasers held a 9-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Junior goalkeeper Gemma Landry (Lewiston, ME) recorded a season-high 18 saves on the day with a .818 save percentage.

Lataya Simmons tallied three saves for Lasell in the win.

The Mariners will look for their first conference victory when they return to action on Wednesday, October 4th, against Elms College on the road at 7:00 pm.
