Alexie (Lexi) Root will enter her first season on the staff of the women's program in the fall of 2023.

“Lexi was one player who I always enjoyed watching play during her high school and club days," said head coach Marc Davis. "She was such an exciting, positive attacking player and we are hoping that she can bring that energy and put into our group."

Root played three seasons at Eastern Connecticut State University. During her 28 game collegiate career, she earned Little East Conference Rookie of the Week twice and an Offensive Player of the Week award. Root was also an All-Conference Third Team selection in her rookie season. Prior to this, she was a standout player for Old Saybrook High School where she earned two Shoreline All-Conference First Team selections and one Second Team. Additionally, Root had a long and stellar club career with Southeast Soccer Club.

Keen to begin a career in coaching, she has been providing youth soccer camps and clinics for Connecticut Coast Soccer while also being experienced in coaching other sports. Root resides in Old Saybrook, Conn., and is soon to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from ECSU.
