Women's Tennis Falls at Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's tennis team defeated New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Mitchell College on Thursday evening by a 9-0 final.

Lesley (2-3 overall, 1-0 NECC) earned its first-ever conference victory in program history. Mitchell dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the NECC.

At number one singles, freshman Julie Felts gave Courtney Mullen a difficult match, but Mullen pulled out the victory by finals of 6-3, 7-5. Mullen and teammate Michelle Side also pulled off a close 8-6 triumph over Felts and her doubles partner, Erica Fazio, in the number one doubles match.

All of Lesley's wins in singles play came in straight sets. Kelly Walsh made her season debut for the Mariners and played at number six singles, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Caroline Cingari.

Mitchell will next host Newbury College on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m.
