Women's Tennis Shut Out by Becker

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Becker College handed Mitchell College a 9-0 defeat in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action on Friday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Courts.

The Hawks (9-6, 7-2 NECC) cruised to victory via straight sets in all six singles matches and lost only a combined two games while sweeping three doubles matches. The win kept Becker in second place in the conference standings and only a game behind Regis College for the top spot.

In singles, Anna Pilip didn't lose a game at the No. 3 spot against Julie Embley. A trio of Hawks weren't far from duplicating the feat, as Nicole Connolly, Kathleen Razzaboni and Shauna Buckley all lost only one game in convincing wins at the No. 1, 2 and 6 positions, respectively.

The lone competitive match came at No. 4 singles where Cameron Murphy held off Jennifer Schmidt in the first set en route to a 7-5, 6-1 final. Kerry Saltvick earned the final singles point for the Hawks with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot over Dominique Lacroix.

Mitchell wraps up the regular season at home against Regis on Saturday, October 13 at 1 p.m.
