Women's Tennis Falls to Bay Path


NEW LONDON, Conn. – Bay Path College handed Mitchell College a 9-0 defeat in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Mack Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats (7-2, 4-0 NECC) cruised to victory via straight sets in all six singles matches and lost only a combined seven games while sweeping three doubles matches. The win kept Bay Path undefeated and in first place in the conference standings.

In singles, no Bay Path player lost more than four total games. Symone Watson won by scores of 6-2, 6-1 over Mitchell's Carly Paterson at the No. 1 position to lead the way for the Wildcats. Brittany Walsh and Abigail Janneke each won by finals of 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and 6 singles, respectively, while Taylor Wood won at No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-1 margin.

The most competitive match came at the No. 2 spot where Stephanie Morin held off Alexa Litwak in the second set to post a 6-0, 6-4 victory. Teanna Montoya wrapped up the sweep for the Wildcats with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Mitchell (0-7 overall, 0-5 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Saturday, October 5 at noon.
