2008 NECC All-Conference Women’s Volleyball Teams Announced

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – All eight sponsored programs were represented on 2008 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, three separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week. Two Mitchell volleyball players were honored for their efforts during the 2008 season.

PAXTON, Mass.— Stephanie Davis (Ledyard, Conn.) had 11 kills and eight digs to lead the Mitchell College women’s volleyball team past Anna Maria College, 3-1. The AMCATS took the first game 25-21 before the Mariners stormed back to take the next three games in a row by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-18.

Mitchell Vollebyall went 1 and 1 on Saturday. The Mariners beat Mass Maritime 3-0 in the first game of the trimatch while falling to Mass College of Liberal Arts 2-3 in a well-played match.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/4/08)—Mitchell dropped two matches at the Coast Guard on Saturday. Coast Guard Senior Nicole Gurr (Acton, CA.) had 21 kills, 18 digs, 10 aces and eight blocks leading Coast Guard to a win over Mitchell on Homecoming Weekend.

New London, CT. – In a great cross town contest Connecticut College Women’s Volleyball team came out firing. The Camels were lead by freshman Amy Newman (Los Angeles, CA) with 6 kills, but Connecticut College to sweep the non conference match at Mitchell College. Connecticut College served strongly and swept in three (25 – 11, 25 – 10, 25 – 7).

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Lesley University has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference women’s volleyball championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC’s head women’s volleyball coaches.

NEW LONDON, CT, Sept. 10, 2008 - Mitchell College netted their season opener against Albertus Magnus College to post a 3 -0 (25 – 22, 33 -31, 25 – 14). Albertus Magnus is 0- 3 for the season. Mitchell College kept improving as the match went on as some fresh new talent lead by Brittany Zaccaria (White Plains, NY), Tameres Castro (Ansonial, CT) and Kimberly Campell (Springfield, MA).
