Volleyball Holds off Albertus Magnus for 3-1 Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's volleyball team held off Albertus Magnus College for a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night.

The Mariners (3-4 overall), who have won their last two matches, beat the Falcons by final scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-18. Freshman Shayna Diggs led Mitchell with 12 kills and added two blocks.

In the fourth and final set, Mitchell sealed the win behind the momentum provided by freshman Jordan Ringwood. All three of her blocks came during the set to stymie an Albertus Magnus comeback. She finished the game with a block on the final play, sealing the victory for the Mariners.

Senior Heather-Renae Powers added nine kills, five digs and three blocks for Mitchell while sophomore Kimberly Campbell had eight kills and one block. Junior Jennifer Bordonaro handed out 27 assists and added an ace, a block and two digs.

Mitchell will play at home for the first time in over a month on Saturday, October 10 in a doubleheader against Daniel Webster College (11 a.m.) and Southern Vermont College (3 p.m.).
