NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's volleyball team hosted Daniel Webster College and Southern Vermont College in an NECC tripleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

Game 1 - Daniel Webster College defeated Mitchell College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14)

Daniel Webster needed only three sets to hand Mitchell a loss in its conference opener. Kristine Rieger led the Eagles with 10 kills and added four aces. Caitlyn DePierro handed out a match-high 24 assists.

Mitchell was led by junior Stephanie Davis, who finished with eight kills and six digs. Jennifer Bordonaro recorded 12 assists to lead the Mariners in the category.

Game 2 - Daniel Webster College defeated Southern Vermont College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-5)

Daniel Webster remained undefeated in conference play at 4-0 and improved to 8-4 overall. The Eagles racked up 22 service aces in the match, led by six from Brier Temple and five by Catherine Ferraro.  Samantha Hill and Chelsey Crawford led the way with seven kills and six kills, respectively, while DePierro handed out 16 assists. The Eagles hit .442 as a team in the match and finished with 28 kills.

Kayleigh Moretto recorded four kills and three aces to lead the Mountaineers while Sarah Golub added six assists.

Game 3 - Mitchell College defeated Southern Vermont College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-18)

Mitchell (4-5 overall, 1-1 NECC) bounced back to earn its first conference victory of the season in the final match. Heather-Renae Powers led the way with nine kills while Davis added seven. Bordonaro finished with 18 assists and a match-high nine aces. As a team, the Mariners recorded 25 aces, including seven from Brittany Zaccaria.

Moretto finished with a team-high six kills for the Mountaineers, who dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Tasha Smith added four kills, five digs and four assists.

Mitchell will next host St. Joseph College on Wednesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. Daniel Webster will next host Johnson State on Tuesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. Southern Vermont will next play at Newbury on Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m.
