CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Mitchell College volleyball team split a doubleheader at Lesley University on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners lost to Lesley 3-0 but bounced back for a 3-0 victory over Bay Path College.

In the first match of the afternoon, Lesley triumphed by final scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-20. Offensively, the Lynx were led by Megan Chadwick, Amanda McCracken, and Kaitlyn Wechsler who had nine, eight, and seven kills, respectively. Wechsler added a match-high four aces to help pace the Lynx.  Kaitlyn Miller led both teams with 22 assists as she was a consistent force for the Lynx throughout the entire match. 

Mitchell was led on offense by junior Stephanie Davis who had a team-high four kills. Junior Jennifer Bordonaro led the Mariners with nine assists.

The Mariners rebounded after their opening loss to beat the Wildcats by finals of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-20. Mitchell won the first game with little trouble, but Bay Path showed its true colors and played the Mariners very tough over games two and three. 

Mitchell was led by freshman Akesia Bernard, Davis and senior Heather-Renae Powers who contributed five, four and four kills, respectively. The Mariners, who had 85 team attacks over the three games, continually put pressure on the Wildcats throughout the course of the match. Bordonaro finished with 11 assists in the contest.

Mitchell (5-8 overall, 2-2 NECC) returns to action at Elms College on Saturday, October 24 at noon.
