Volleyball Tops Saint Joseph

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Mitchell College women's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory at Saint Joseph College on Wednesday night.

Mitchell (4-10 overall) dropped the first set 25-18 but rebounded to win the next three by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19. Leading the way was senior Stephanie McKeon, who finished with a team-high 16 kills and also added two aces, six digs and three blocks. Sophomore Shayna Diggs contributed 12 kills to the Mariners' offense.

Senior Jen Bordonaro paced the attack with 33 assists and chipped in with three kills, three aces and three digs. Sophomore Samantha Alevras-Tarbell finished with three kills, five aces and 10 digs.

Mitchell returns to action with a non-conference doubleheader at Johnson & Wales on Saturday, October 16. The Mariners will face Emmanuel College at 1 p.m. and host Johnson & Wales at 3 p.m.
