Volleyball's Terni Named NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Nicole Terni was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's volleyball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Terni started all three matches last week and led the Mariners to a 2-1 mark with wins against Saint Joseph College and Albertus Magnus College, totaling 56 assists (4.50 per set), 37 digs and 13 kills for the week. She had the best game of her young career in a five-set victory over Albertus Magnus, finishing with career highs of 29 assists, 25 digs and six kills. She also played a crucial role in the deciding set, contributing to the final eight points of the contest (one kill, six straight service points, and the assist on the match-winning kill).

Terni has played in all five matches this season and leads the Mariners with 90 assists and 13 service aces. She also ranks fifth in the NECC in assists per set (5.00).

Terni is the second Mitchell player in as many weeks to earn NECC rookie honors. Last week classmate Jaclyn Tempkins earned the distinction.

Mitchell (3-2 overall) will face Albertus Magnus once again on Wednesday, September 21 at the Yarnall Athletic Center. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
