Volleyball Falls 3-0 at Albertus Magnus


NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback in non-conference action at Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday night.

Melissa Manning registered 12 kills and 14 digs to lead the Falcons while Lily Dy dished out 19 assists. Albertus Magnus (3-4 overall) won by set scores of 25-11, 26-24 and 25-23.

The Falcons tallied 24 kills on the night in 91 tries, while Mitchell recorded 26. Senior Gloria Charles also recorded 12 kills with seven digs to lead the Mariners. Sophomore Amanda Garcia added nine kills while classmate Nicole Caminiti handed out a match-high 24 assists.

After dropping the first set by 14, Mitchell bounced back in the second and led 18-14. Albertus Magnus, however, battled back to tie the score and eventually pulled out a 26-24 victory. In the final set, the Falcons went up 12-5 before winning 25-23.

Mitchell (0-3 overall) will next play a pair of matches at Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday, September 15 beginning at 11 a.m.
