Volleyball Sweeps Past Pine Manor

 

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Mitchell College sophomore Amanda Garcia tallied a match-high nine kills to lead the visiting Mariners to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) victory over Pine Manor College in a women's volleyball contest on Tuesday evening at Brunelli Court.

With the win, the third in a row for Mitchell, the Mariners improved to 4-8 on the season. With the loss, Pine Manor dropped to 1-12.

In addition to her match-high nine kills, Garcia tied for match-high honors with three service aces while also collecting a solo block and a block assist. Mitchell freshman Amanda Rowan finished second on the Mariners with six kills on 12 attempts as she hit .500 on the night. Sophomore Nicole Caminiti finished with a match-high 15 assists.

Pine Manor got out to a lead in the first set, holding an early advantage until the Mariners came back to tie the score at 11-11. From there Mitchell moved on to capture the first set and trailed by no more than three points in either of the remaining sets as it cruised to the three set victory.

For the Gators, Phalogne Pierre finished with a team-high five kills and two solo blocks. Destiny Mann finished with a game-high six digs for the Gators.

Mitchell will next host Lesley University on Saturday, October 5 at noon.
