Volleyball Trumps Albertus Magnus in Three Sets


NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's volleyball team powered to a 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-22) victory at Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night at The Nest.

Mitchell (4-9 overall) won a close first set and carried that momentum for the remainder of the match. The Mariners finished with 29 team kills, led by a match-high 11 from junior Amanda Garcia. Sophomore Amanda Rowan added six kills and freshmen Myia Williams and Janelle Rice each contributed five, and junior Nicole Caminiti paced the offense with 24 assists.

Ana Gomez led the Falcons (3-10 overall) with 10 kills. Caitlin Prete finished with eight kills, three service aces and a pair of blocks.

Junior Kaisea Caramante paced the Mitchell defense with a match-high 27 digs while Caminiti chipped in with 17. Caramante was also a force at the service stripe, where she led all players with seven aces.

Mitchell opens up conference play at home against Becker College on Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m.
