Volleyball Falls 3-0 at Daniel Webster


NASHUA, N.H. – The Mitchell College women's volleyball team fell by a 3-0 final at Daniel Webster College on Wednesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium, losing by set scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-20.
 
Daniel Webster halted a three-match skid and improved to 5-15 overall (3-4 NECC). Mitchell was eliminated from postseason contention in dropping to 5-16 overall (1-6 NECC).
 
Daniel Webster's Amanda Gendron posted her best overall match of the season with a career-high 12 kills against just one error to hit .458. Sharline Polycarpe added six kills, Madeline Roulier knocked down five kills with a team-high 10 digs, and Courtney Warrington added five kills and matched her season high with six service aces.
 
Breen Cosgrove finished with 18 assists for the victors. Maggie Belli posted nine digs to increase her career total to 1,039, just two shy of the all-time lead in that category in program history.
 
Junior Amanda Garcia led the Mariners with six kills and two solo blocks. Freshman Myia Williams and sophomore Amanda Rowan added three kills apiece while junior Nicole Caminiti  picked up 14 assists and added a match-high 13 digs.
 
DWC hit .137 overall to .029 for Mitchell. The Eagles doubled up the Mariners in both total kills (31-16) and assists (28-14) and used a big 15-3 difference in service aces to control the tempo, helping negate an 8-0 win for the Mariners in total blocks.
 
DWC never trailed in the opening set as Polycarpe did the bulk of her damage to the tune of four kills while Gendron added five. Garcia picked up three for Mitchell.
 
Gendron and Warrington knocked down three kills each in set two and Gendron continued her steady play with four more in the third.
 
Mitchell will close out the regular season at home against Elms College on Saturday, November 1 at 5:00 p.m.
