Volleyball Drops Five-Setter in Season Finale at Becker


LEICESTER, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss (25-15, 18-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9) at Becker College on Friday evening in the New England Collegiate Conference regular season finale for each team.

The loss eliminated the Mariners (4-14 overall, 1-7 NECC) from postseason contention. Becker, which improved to 12-15 overall and 4-4 in the NECC, is one of six teams that will compete in the NECC Championship next week.

During the final stanza Samantha Caouette had a pair of kills and served for three straight points that staked Becker to an 11-6 lead it would not relinquish. The senior finished her final home game with eight kills, 11 digs and three aces.

Middle blockers Kayla Dupree and Marissa Turner led Becker offensively with 14 kills apiece. Turner had a double-double as she added 16 digs. Also collecting a double-double was setter Charlene Landry with a match-high 33 assists and 17 digs. 

Leading all players with 24 digs was libero Brittney Bullis. As a team, Becker had 80 digs – its most since the season finale last season when the Hawks posted 80 against Daniel Webster.

For Mitchell, Amanda Garcia had a match-high 15 kills and five blocks in the final game of her career. Amanda Rowan added 10 kills while Myia Williams chipped in with eight. Nicole Caminiti finished with 28 assists and 18 digs while Kaisea Caramante added 17 digs.
