Volleyball Falls in Three at Regis

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2016 regular season home schedule in the win column on Wednesday night, defeating Mitchell College in straight sets (29-27, 25-14, 25-9).

With the win, the Pride improved to 12-15 on the season (6-1 NECC), with Mitchell fell to 3-17 (0-7 NECC).

The Pride took a lengthy, back-and-forth opening set, 29-27, that featured 20 ties and 10 lead changes. At no time in the set was the lead more than two for either side. The set was eventually clinched by a sneaky, floating attack by Regis' Courtney Mosher that found the hardwood in the back-left corner of the court.

The next two sets were much more one-sided than the first, as the Pride quickly took care of business thanks to a balanced attack and strong efforts from players coming off the bench. Katryna Veasey led all players on the evening with 12 kills and eight service aces. Following Veasey was Mitchell's Amanda Rowan, who finished the evening with eight kills.

On the defensive side of the ball, Mitchell libero Colby Zitoli led all players with 10 digs. The Pride were led defensively by Nicole Connolly and Crystina Lathrop, who each finished the night with six digs in the win.

Mitchell will wrap up the season against Southern Vermont College on Saturday, October 29 at noon.
