Mitchell’s Murray Tabbed as NECC Player of the Week
NEW LONDON, CONN. - Mitchell College junior forward Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) was a scoring force for the Mariners, leading his team to a 2-1 NECC weekly record. Murray closed the week notching a double-double helping Mitchell defeat Lesley 78-52, pouring out another 25 point game and pulling down 11 boards. Earlier in the week, he notched 16 points in a 92-82 win against Newbury, while shelling out 25 points in an 84-59 loss against Becker. For the week, Murray shot 44% (26-for-59) from the field, 31% (4-for-13) from behind the arc and 83% (10-for-12) from the free-throw line.
On the season, Murray is averaging 22.0 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game for the Mariners. He also has tallied 33 assists and 29 steals, while leading Mitchell to an overall record of 7-8 and 3-3 in the NECC. The Mariners are back in action on Thursday, January 29th when they travel to Elms College.
