Meet The Coach
Dan Corcoran

Dan Corcoran will enter his first season as the head coach of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse program in the spring of 2023.

Corcoran joins the Mariners after serving as the defensive coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, a position he held since February of 2020. He takes over a program that went 4-12 in 2022, and lost in the New England Collegiate Conference title game.

"We are excited to welcome Dan and his family to our athletic department and the Mitchell College community," shared Mitchell College Director of Athletics, Matt Finlayson. "Dan has an excellent coaching background and is eager to provide our student-athletes with a first class experience. We are thrilled to have him lead the lacrosse program to new heights as we enter the GNAC."

Prior to his stop at Trinity, Corcoran held the position of assistant men's lacrosse coach at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut, from February 2010 until February 2019. He then moved into the role of interim head coach for men's lacrosse at Connecticut College, before briefly serving as acting head coach until December 2019. During his time at Connecticut College, Corcoran assisted the Camels to the only two NCAA Tournament berths (2010 & 2012) in school history, as the program became just the second men's athletic program in the history of the school to reach two NCAA Tournaments, and also reached the NESCAC Final Four twice. A proven recruiter with a strong history of player development, Corcoran recruited and coached numerous All-NESCAC and All-Americans in his career, including a two-time First Team All- American and positional player of the year.

"First of all, I would like to thank Director of Athletics Matt Finlayson, Associate Directors, Todd Peretz and Kim-Camara-Harvey for the opportunity to lead the Mitchell College program," said Corcoran. "I would also like to thank my parents Eileen, my late father Joe, who were truly my first life coaches, and my wife Barbara along with my four children who continue to support my passion for coaching. In addition, I would also like to thank coach Dave Cornell (Connecticut College) for giving be an incredible lacrosse education, coach Jason Tarnow (Trinity College) and the late Coach Jack McGetrick (Bellarmine/Hartford) who mentored me early in my career and continues to be an inspiration to me to coach the game we love."

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Corcoran was the head men's lacrosse coach at Simsbury High School (CT), compiling a 53-12 record, and was named the 2008 US Lacrosse Connecticut High School Coach of the Year. At Simsbury, he coached six All-Americans, two Academic All-Americans, two Hartford Courant Players of the Year, and 22 All-Conference players. A native of Deer Park, New York, who played lacrosse at Adelphi University, Corcoran also was an assistant coach at Avon Old Farms and founded Connecticut RIP-IT Lacrosse, a program which serves youth lacrosse players through camps, clinics, and elite travel teams.

Corcoran and his wife Barbara currently reside in West Hartford, Connecticut, and have four children; Tyler, Ryan, Hannah, and Meghan.
