Men's Soccer Duo Honored by NECC
MARSHFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College men's soccer players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Sophomore Quinn Outerbridge was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman Daniel Hotaling was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo led Mitchell to wins over Worcester State University and Southern Vermont College last week.
Outerbridge recorded three goals and an assist over the two games to lead the Mitchell offense. He netted the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Worcester State, scoring off a rebound in the 70th minute for his first tally of the season. He then factored into all three goals in Mitchell's conference opener against Southern Vermont, assisting on the game-winning goal before adding a pair of insurance markers in a 2:05 stretch.
Hotaling had a strong impact on the defensive side of the ball in each game. He made a spectacular goal-line save in the second half of a win at Worcester State, keeping the game knotted at 1-1 before Mitchell scored the go-ahead goal. He then aided a defensive line that produced its first shutout of the season against Southern Vermont in Mitchell's NECC opener.
Mitchell (2-2 overall, 1-0-0 NECC) will next play at Old Westbury on Wednesday, September 19 at 4 p.m.
