Golf Notches Third at Emmanuel Invitational
DORCHESTER, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team shot 332 on the way to a third-place finish at the Emmanuel Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park.
The Mariners finished just one shot behind runner-up Elms College (331), while Rhode Island College bested the field of four with a team score of 314. Emmanuel College rounded out the team scores, firing a 337.
Mitchell's Shamus McLean entered play on a hot streak, having earned medalist honors in back to back tournaments to begin the season (Mitchell Invite I & Mitchell Invite II). The junior produced another strong performance, pacing the Mariners and finishing tied for fourth place with seven-over-par score of 77. Jaxon Hinshaw was right behind him, posting the lowest round of his college career with an eight-over-par 78 to finish in sixth.
Jack Hayes slipped inside the top 10 by carding a round of 82 for a 10th place tie.
Ryan King and Micheal Thompson rounded out the scoring for the Mariners with scores of 95 and 96 respectively.
Mitchell will have a quick turnaround, next competing at the Brett Williamson Invitational on Thursday, September 22 at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, Mass.
