Golf Returns to Shennecossett for Mitchell Invite III
GROTON, Conn. -- Just days after hosting the 2022 MASCAC Men's Golf Championship, the Mitchell College Golf team returned to Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton on Thursday, welcoming in Albertus Magnus, New England College, and Wentworth for the Mitchell Invite III.
Leading the pack was Albertus Magnus, as the Falcons shot a 319 to earn the top spot. New England College was right on their heels, finishing in second place just five strokes back (324, while Wentworth (327) and the Mariners (334) rounded out the field.
New England College freshman Graham Hassan, who was named MASCAC Rookie of the Year on Monday, earned medalist honors, shooting a two-over-par 73. Mitchell senior Shamus McLean, who was named All-MASCAC First Team, paced the Mariners with a seveb-over-par 78 which landed him in a fourth place tie with Timothy Carlson of New England College. Mitchell's Jack Hayes also landed in the top five, placing fifth (79) and finishing one stroke behind McLean.
Ryan King and Jaxon Hinshaw carded rounds of 88 and 89 respectively, while Micheal Thompson (102) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.
Mitchell will travel for a match against Mount Saint Mary at Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y. next Wednesday, October 12.
