Men’s Lacrosse Releases 2024 Schedule
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team recently released their schedule for the upcoming spring season.
Playing their first year in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), the Mariners will open up their season on the road with a conference game at Norwich University on Saturday, February 24th, before hosting non-conference opponent Centenary University in their home opener on Saturday, March 2nd. The Mariners will then travel for another out of conference game against Salem State University on Wednesday, March 6th, before taking a brief pause for spring break.
On the other side of spring break, it's non-stop GNAC action for Mariners, who will have three consecutive home contests against Elms College, Johnson & Wales University, and Albertus Magnus College. After that, the Mariners take to the road for games against Rivier University and Lasell University, before returning home on Saturday, April 13th to host Emmanuel College. The Mariners will then wind down their season with road games at Regis College and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), before wrapping their regular season at home against Dean College on Wednesday, April 24th.
The Mariners will be led by second year head coach Dan Corcoran, and will look to the senior leadership of Weston Schumacher (Sherborn, Mass.) and CJ Bradley (West Babylon, N.Y.).
Scumacher, who scored a team-high 14 goals last spring, will be joined on the offensive end by sophomore Xavier Haney (Montville, Conn.), senior Dylan Kinsella (Waterbury, Conn.), and junior Jon Parra-Tobey (New London, Conn.), as the three combined for 24 goals and 32 points a year ago.
Also returning for the Mariners is junior Keeano Gonzalez (New London, Conn.) who was one of two Mitchell players to land on the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) All-Conference Team last spring. In his first season with the Mariners, Gonzalez finished second in the conference with 95 ground balls and was 120-332 from the face off position. The 95 ground balls were second most in a single season in program history, and Gonzalez contributed in other areas as well, logging one goal and two assists to go along with 12 caused turnovers.
