MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College softball team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday as the league announced its weekly honors.
Sophomore Katelyn Lipsky was named NECC Pitcher of the Week while freshman Emily Reynolds was a repeat selection as NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped lead Mitchell to a 2-2 record at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
Lipsky went 1-1 with 16 strikeouts and a 2.92 ERA from inside the circle. She picked up a 9-1 win in 6.0 innings of work against Penn State Berks, allowing only one run on five hits. She also fanned a season-high nine batters earlier in the week against Otterbein University.
Reynolds batted .400 with two doubles and two RBI, earning rookie honors for the second straight week. She also made two starts in the circle and picked up a 5-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan University in which she scattered five hits over 7.0 innings and struck out two.
