WLAX's Murtha Tabbed NECC Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Ashley Murtha was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of women's lacrosse, as announced by the league on Monday.
Murtha recorded 28 goals and one assist over three games last week as Mitchell posted a 2-1 record. She scored 12 goals in a victory over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) and then repeated the effort in a road win at Daniel Webster College. She also added an assist against the Eagles to finish with 13 points in the contest. The 12 goals were the most scored by any women's lacrosse player in a game this season at any NCAA level.
Murtha, who earns player of the week honors for the second time in her career, has played in seven games and leads the NECC with 55 goals. Her 38 goals in league play also rank as the most in the conference.
Mitchell will next play at Daniel Webster College on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. Regis returns to action at Southern Vermont College on Monday, April 18 at 4:30 p.m.
