Women's Soccer Sweep Weekly NECC Awards
MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Two Mitchell College women's soccer players were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Sophomore Ileana Perez was named NECC Player of the Week, while Taylor Bialowas was tabbed NECC Rookie of the week. The duo helped guide the Mariners to a 2-0 record on the week, including a home victory over Bryant & Startton on Wednesday and a road win against York (N.Y.) on Saturday.
Perez, a sophomore, led the offensive attack during the Mariners 6-1 rout of the Cardinals, getting off six shots and scoring a pair of goals, her first two of the season. The six goals were the most the team has scored in a game this thus far.
Bialowas, meanwhile, scored her first two goals of her colliegate career in the game against the Bulldogs earlier in the week. The freshman made her presence felt beyond that as well, assisting on a goal by Hannah Penn near the end of the first half.
Mitchell (4-4-1) have won four of their last five matches and will be back in action on Thursday, October 6th, when they host Old Westbury at Alumni Field.
