Women's Tennis Shut Out at Regis
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College rebounded from its first setback of the season with a 9-0 victory over Mitchell College on Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action.
The Pride remain unbeaten in the NECC at 4-0 and improved to 5-1 overall. Mitchell dropped to 2-3 (2-2 NECC) with the defeat.
The Pride jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead following doubles play as Regis allowed only one point across the three matchups. Jessie Lord and Erica Murphy teamed for an 8-0 sweep of Heather Schall and Samantha Ryan at No. 1 doubles, while Emily Rice and Katasha Jarvis followed suit with an 8-0 sweep of Dominique Lacroix and Veyda McVey at No. 2. Jewel Medeiros and Sara Kanarkiewicz added an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Lehayla Cruz and Brittany Fuller to cap the doubles competition.
The Pride swept through singles play as Jarvis, Medeiros and Amy DiPace posted matching 6-0, 6-0 scores at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Rice defeated McVey 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Lord added a 6-3 ,6-1 win over Ryan at No. 1. Murphy handed Schall a 6-0, 6-1 setback at No. 2.
Mitchell will next host Bay Path University on Saturday, September 26 at noon. Prior to the match, the Mariners will honor their three seniors.
