Eddie Volkerts

It was a dominant week for Mitchell College junior Eddie Volkerts (New London, Conn.), who averaged 29 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, helping guide the Mariners to a 2-0 record in GNAC play. Volkerts added three steals and 2.5 assists per contest, while shooting 69.4% (25-36) from the floor.

The New London, CT native began the week by posting a double-double in Mitchell's road victory over Anna Maria College. In the win, Volkerts finished with 29 points (12-18), 12 rebounds, three steals, and four assists, while also sealing the win for Mitchell with a buzzer beating layup in overtime. Volkerts was right back at it on Saturday, scoring 29 points (13-18) and grabbing 13 rebounds, guiding the Mariners past New England College. Against the Pilgrims, he added three steals and dished out three assists. Entering the new week, Volkerts ranks third in the GNAC in rebounds per game (9.1) and is is fifth in points per game (18.5).
