Brooke Whitmarsh
Mitchell catcher Brooke Whitmarsh (Portsmouth, R.I.) continued her strong senior season this week, slashing .421/,455/.737 for the Mariners, while driving in six runs and scoring four times.
Whitmarsh had four doubles, one triple, walked once, and did not record a strikeout. She had at least one hit in four out of the six games, highlighted by a huge performance on the road Sunday in a win over Elms, where she went 4-4 with a double, a triple, five RBI, and two runs scored. Her numbers only improved in conference play, as Whitmarsh batted .462 in four GNAC games with six RBI and four runs scored.
The Portsmouth, R.I., native enters the new week ranked second in the conference with 17 RBI, is seventh in batting average (.469), and in a game against Saint Joseph's College on Saturday became the first player in the Division III era of the Mitchell softball program to eclipse 100 career runs batted in.
