Softball's Burke Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College softball player Meghan
Burke was named NECC Rookie of the Week on Monday, as
announced by the New England Collegiate Conference.
Burke, a freshman infielder, helped the Mariners to a 2-2 record
last week. She batted .400 (4-for-10) with a double, three RBI and
three runs scored over the four games. She finished with a solid
.500 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.
Burke is the first Mitchell player to earn Rookie of the Week
honors this season. She has started and played in all 22 games and
is batting .265 with 13 RBI and 20 runs scored. Four of her 18 hits
have gone for extra bases, and she is one of only two Mariners with
a double, triple and home run on the season.
Mitchell (14-8 overall, 6-0 NECC) will play a doubleheader at
Daniel Webster College later today. First pitch is scheduled for 3
p.m.
